The Macedonian regiment in Russia!
The author present the data about members of Serbian regiments in New Serbia, that is, Slavonic Serbia, who declared themselves as Macedonians. In Sevic’s regiment 74 persons declared that they came from the “Macedonian nation”. According to the Russian author Kabuzanov, in 1754 in New Serbia there were 2,225 persons, out of which 124 Macedonians.
In 1759 the Macedonian hussar regiment was formed. The commander of the regiment was Aleksij Kostjurin, and the supreme commander of all regiments was Jovan Horvat. According to the data from 1765–1769 out of the total of 271 merchants who were registered in the “Nezin Greek Fraternity”, 54 declared that they were from the “Macedonian province”, mostly from Kostur, Thessalonica, Vodena, Skoplje and Strumica.
The Macedonian regiment was terminated in 1773. The dislocated population adapted to the new environment and by the time passing they became ethnically assimilated.

The statement:” …1765–1769 out of the total of 271 merchants who were registered in the “Nezin Greek Fraternity”, 54 declared that they were from the “Macedonian province”, mostly from Kostur, Thessalonica, Vodena, Skoplje and Strumica..” Well, when I see individuals from the “Macedonian Province ” joining a Greek fraternity, I would say that those were Greeks (I should know; I identify myself as a Greek from Macedonia. Exactly in the same way that my grandfathers and great-grandfathers did!!).

No mather how much modern greeks will deny Macedonian nation and culture, it’s clear that historic facts and documents are telling the truth about the Macedonian nation.

First, John, how old are you. Do you know that Greece is exploring the word Macedonia since 1989. The thing you’re receiving from your leaders is called “brainwash”.
Second, are you familiated with the word genocid – you should be, because this happened to the macedonians living in the northern part of your country (land of Macedonia, before it was taken by Greece) in the middle of the 20th century.
Third, if we put behind the historical facts (which are more than clear), in today world we have undenied human right – the right to selfdetermination. This mean that it is a mather of feeling and belonging how will I call my self. Denying this right, make your country and you nothing less than fascist and xenophobic.

I comented on this specific document. And stated that it is reasonable to assume that individuals from the “Macedonian Province” joining a greek fraternity ( “Nezin Greek Fraternity”) are Greeks. If this does not appear reasonable to you, please explain.

First, please read my response to Ivica above; it applies to your comments as well.
Second, your statement “..that Greece is exploring the word Macedonia since 1989”, is completely baseless (and I am afraid, an intentional distortion). I was born, and grew up in Macedonia in the fifties. Every school day, we were singing the “..Famous Makedonia, Coutry of Alexander..)” song!! And every day, my family was reading the news paper “MAKEDONIA” (established in 1911). My grandfather fought in the balkan wars; his brother was butchered, because he was a greek teacher!! Unfortunately, in war times a lot of people get killed. And the balkans have had more than the “fair share” of killing. Do you think that the Slavs invaded Macedonia as tourists? They killed, burned, and pillaged like all “good conquerors” do. The challenge and opportunity for us, is to move forward so that the future generations will live in peace.
Third, I do believe that you have a right to self determination. We do, however, have a fundamental disagreement about the Macedonian ethicity issue; your claim is not accepted by any of your neighbors (why?).

One Word: Land
All of Macedonia’s neighbours want Macedonian land as their own (Greece, Bulgaria want to keep a hold on their own occupied portion)
How old are you? Judging from your correspondence and your word usage/structure your grammar is quite juvenile. Perhaps you are a 40 year old with a grade 8 vocabulary? Perhaps you are a 14 year old with the equivalent vocabulary?

Well John, can`t you reed well that there is Macedonian nation mentioned there beside the Serbian, Bulgarian and Vlachs.But obviously it does not fit you to sea that there in those exhibits it`s present the Macedonian nation.
Do you know what i can not understand about all this craps that you are making?It`s that you have a country,you have three seas all around you,you have a good live and standard,you have NATO and EU, YOU HAVE EVERYTHING and all of a sudden you have concluded that your north neighbor should not exist as such with his name and all his cultural features.Wile we have hardly made to ends meet and have put all our hopes in future integration in all the European institutions.Obviously you don`t have anything better to do in your live than to bother with our problems by making it to be worse.Way don`t you just live us alone and do your work as you know?
